Author resources

Thank you for considering American Journal Experts. Our editors will work hard to make your article ready for publication. At AJE, we want to improve your writing in every way. This page is filled with useful information that will help you make the most of our service.

What to expect

  • When you submit an article to AJE, you should expect timely, high quality editing and excellent customer service. Your secure account is designed to protect your confidentiality and to guide you through our service. Once you have logged in to your secure account, you can submit articles, monitor the status of your current submissions, download completed work, access invoices for all your submissions (current and past) and generate discounts by referring colleagues to AJE.
  • When you open your article, you can expect to find changes and comments inserted using Microsoft Word's track changes. Do not be discouraged if you find a number of changes; it simply means your editor was thorough in examining your work. Learn more about Track Changes and our editing tools.
  • Review the changes your editor has made before accepting them. This ensures that you understand what changes have been made to your document and that these changes do not alter the original intent or meaning of your article. Although we assign your article to an editor with a background in your field, editors are human and they can sometimes make mistakes.
  • If you have a question about the editing process or about AJE, first read through our frequently asked questions page. If you cannot find your answer there, contact us. Our support team can field questions about payment, submissions, the status of a submission, problems with your account, and anything else.

Submission suggestions

Once you set up your account, a few simple steps can help you reduce the cost of the service and increase its value. These suggestions are not required, but strongly encouraged.

  • Send us your document at the last stage of editing so that you do not need to worry about future changes that you make.
  • Only the AJE Managing editor assigning your paper to an editor will be able to see information such as your name and e-mail address. However, your submission editor will see the text of your submission during the editing process. If you are uncomfortable with the editor seeing personal information in your submission such as your name or organization, feel free to remove any personal information present within your submission. This ensures that the editor does not know whose paper they are editing, removes any possible personal biases, and helps maintain confidentiality.
  • It is best to remove any parts of your document that you do not want included in the editing such as tables, graphs and figures. Since references are not edited, you may also want to remove the references from your document prior to making your submission. This will help to reduce the size of the file for quicker uploading and downloading. The editors will proofread all text in your document (except references) so please note in the special instructions of your submission if you would like any part(s) excluded from the editing and word count. The word count will be verified by the assigned editor and you will be contacted via email if there is a discrepancy which changes the price (increase or decrease).
  • If your document is not in Microsoft Word, (such as LaTeX), copy and paste the document into MS Word and use the word count feature to determine the submission size. We recommend you include a PDF version of your document as a secondary file for reference to the editor.
  • If you have any special instructions to the editor, please include them in the 'Special instructions' field that appears during the manuscript upload process.
  • When you submit your article correctly, after completing the payment step, you will see the confirmation screen and will receive a confirmation email. If this does not occur, it is possible that your submission was incomplete. If you are not able to see your submission in the 'Recent submissions' section of your account, it may mean that your transaction failed. Please re-submit your article, or contact us to notify us of your problem.
  • Use an active e-mail address for your account to make sure you receive notices when your manuscripts are ready.
