Note: Our turnaround time counts calendar days, not business days, so weekend days (Saturday & Sunday) are included in the turnaround time. For example, if you submit a paper on Thursday at 7:00 PM with a 3-day turnaround, your submission will be ready for you to download by Sunday at 7:00 PM.

Our standard document proofing is done by one subject-expert editor and approved by a managing editor. The two editors working on your document will focus on correcting spelling, grammar, usage and punctuation errors. They will change improper language and suggest alternate phrasing when poor wording is used. The editors will alter sentences that sound awkward or unnatural and may point out portions of your document that are vague, confusing or simply need to be rewritten.

If you prefer that one editor works on each stage of editing your paper, please type your request in the special instructions. Our premium document editing (PDE) is performed by two subject-expert editors and approved by a managing editor. In this process, the first subject-editor provides the same type of editing done during our Standard document proofing. The second editor will then reedit the document, checking for omissions and offering more nuanced suggestions for language improvement. Our second round of editing places additional emphasis on the overall flow and sound of the document. With PDE, you can expect more suggestions regarding the finer points of language and style. Furthermore, the use of an additional editor inherently produces a more thorough editing of the document.

After AJE has edited a paper, an author may need to make additional revisions as suggested by journal editors, peer reviewers or supervisors. After making these revisions, the author may wish to submit the paper to AJE for a second round of editing. A newly revised version of a previously AJE-edited paper would be considered a re-edit and will receive a 20% discount. Learn more about AJE's re-edit option.
We accept payment by Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner's Club, Discover AND JCB), PayPal and Purchase order (wire transfer). There is no surcharge for paying via PayPal or Credit Card; however, if you pay a Purchase order via a wire transfer, a purchase order surcharge of $25 will be added. All the information necessary to submit your purchase order payment is included on your invoice at the time of submission.

We understand that many of our customers will seek reimbursement from their institution. In order to speed the process along, AJE offers online invoices that are available to download or print. You will be able to view your printable invoice online the moment you submit your article. Invoices for all submitted work can be accessed through your online account: simply login and select 'View submissions'. From there you can view and print all of your invoices. We do not typically send out paper invoices.
The AJE Bank allows you to add funds into your AJE account at any time and to use these funds to pay for manuscript submissions. Funds can be added into your AJE Bank using your credit card or with a Purchase order (PO) via a bank wire transfer. After adding funds, you would choose the 'AJE Bank' option to pay for your submission instead of the Credit Card or Purchase order options. When you make a submission with your AJE Bank funds, you will see the submission cost as a negative debit from your AJE Bank account balance.
You may want to use the AJE Bank for many reasons. For example, if you have $1000 left in your research budget and these funds will expire soon, you can add that $1000 into your AJE Bank and use those funds to cover the cost of editing your next several manuscripts through AJE. Your AJE Bank funds will never expire, so funds you add today can be used for the editing services you will need next week...or next year! Another reason is to avoid multiple bank wire transfer fees if you are making PO payments. Just make one large PO and transfer funds into your AJE Bank. Then you can use the AJE Bank funds to pay for several submissions without having to pay the $25 PO surcharge every time.
Note for Purchase orders: Because the AJE Bank is designed for larger deposits, funds added to your AJE Bank using a PO will only be available for use once the PO has been paid through a wire transfer. When we receive payment, the funds will be shown as 'Available'. Deposits made using a credit card are 'Available' immediately. If you need to use a PO to make a submission and you need to make the submission without waiting for the funds to become available in your AJE Bank, just choose the regular 'Purchase order' option under 'Payment method' when making the submission.
AJE provides a number of opportunities to generate coupons and earn discounts on your submissions. Most coupons are transferable to others, so your colleagues can reap the benefit of your work. You can even combine the coupons together and get the sum of their benefits. All of your coupons are available to view through the coupon center tab, located in the navigation bar in your secure AJE account.

If you refer a colleague to AJE and that colleague makes a submission with us, you will receive a $40 referral coupon. In order for us to credit you for this referral, you need to use the referral page from your secure account.
